From the Manufacturer
Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

First off let me say when I buy footwear... I wear it until I wear it out... These boots I purchased to wear to my office job and I also wear them for every occasion, even yard work. I am not easy on them and they will be severely tested in the years to come. They are replacing Doc. Marten Shoes that I have had for 15 years and the sole has split leaving me no option to replace them. I also purchased them to be riding boots for my motorcycle rides. They are Black with black Souls and really look good and fit better than the Harley Boots. So far the are breaking in... but the way I wear them it won't take long. I wear a size 12 EEEE and have cankles as big as my knees. These seem to handling the pressure and stepping up to the plate.
I am very happy with the boots and I feel I got the best deal possible.

These boots fit perfectly and are very comfortable right out of the box. No break in required, you can wear them 16 hours with no problem. They are also very light which makes them that much more comfortable for long days.

after having a very hard time finding dr marten shoes and boots at any local stores (in styles i like)i have ordered a few pairs on amazon, i would say about 70% work out, so far the diego lace up is very comfortable, on the first day i was stuck working 13 hrs and at the end i will admit my ankles were a little sore but i have not worn a boot in a few yrs so that was acceptable.
Pros-
1.the leather lining (NOT cloth!) inside the ankle section, i have 2 other dm shoes that though super comfortable wored through to the plastic in less than a year.
2.the all day comfort of the combat or bex flex sole
3. 2 kinds of laces come with it & the shoes seem well made.
no cons yet but i have only had them a few weeks so i will update this in a few months.
